CFPS at the 2008 State Motorcycle Safety Administrators Conference
August 14th through the 18th
Billings, MT
For the third year in a row, CFPS participated as a sponsor for the State Motorcycle Safety Administrators
Annual Conference and sent a strong contingent of ATSTP representatives to deliver a presentation and showcase
CFPS efforts in motorcycle safety. The SMSA fosters and promotes state-administered motorcycle safety programs
and represents state concerns relating to motorcycle safety by working cooperatively with those individuals and
organizations having an interest in motorcycle safety. The SMSA conference is a forum for discussion of current
safety trends and initiatives and to promote coordination between the state safety administrators and other key
players in the industry.
The 2008 conference was held in Billings Montana and included representatives from over 30 states, all services
within the Department of Defense, the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, and a host of other safety professionals from
around the United States. CFPS proudly displayed some our new training enhancements which included brand-new
Surge Reaction Team, the full-motion EF Bike Motorcycle simulator and other materials in the CFPS booth.
Joe Blackburn, Bobbie Carlson and Hector Eide presented a briefing to a well-attended audience that included over
70 members of the conference. The presentation included an overview of ATSTP training capabilities and accomplishments,
a detailed discussion on integrating simulation into motorcycle safety training and insights into the effective
instruction techniques and methodology used by CFPS in the delivery of world-class safety training to the Army.
Mike Tyler and Bill Gleason embarked Surge Reaction Team #2 on its maiden journey from Ft Campbell, KY travelling
over 1,500 miles to Billings, MT to showcase the CFPS’ new mobile training capabilities. Our partners,
Simulator Systems International and
Lee Parks’ Total Control
